Luther Ronzoni Vandross Jr. (April 20, 1951 – July 1, 2005) was an American singer, songwriter, and record producer. Known as the Velvet Voice", he sold over 40 million records worldwide and achieved eleven consecutive RIAA-certified Platinum albums.[1] Vandross won eight Grammy Awards,[2] including Song of the Year in 2004 for a track recorded not long before his death, "Dance with My Father".[3] In 2021, he was posthumously inducted into the National Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame.
